Tipii

Toulou In an inner courtyard in Toulouse's Fontaine Lestang district, the Tipii glass blowing workshop puts the spotlight on arts and crafts

Where industry erases the human being who makes it, Thibaut Nussbaumer reconnects with local craftsmanship and reveals to the urban public what the hand shapes. This craftsman has been sketching the contours of his creativity from an early age. He started out in applied art, before finally turning to a more tangible form of creation... Thibaut fell in love with glassblowing at the Meisenthal site in Moselle. From that moment on, he wanted to unlock the secrets of this hypnotic art form, and nurtured his appetite for the handmade. He began his apprenticeship at the Baccarat crystal glassworks, and went on to learn his trade in various European workshops, notably in Switzerland, Denmark and Norway, where he was fortunate enough to discover the subtleties of the craft. Nevertheless, the young glassblower continued his design gymnastics, writing a thousand and one sketches in his notebooks. Today, in his workshop at the "end of the street", ideas bubble up in front of the kiln, blowing his imagination with his fingertips. He creates a myriad of original collections, a subtle interplay of reliefs, textures and colors. But Thibaut is also driven by the cult of simplicity, delivering pieces as pure as they are immaculate, like the Jeannettes or the Pina collection, a service as sober as it is refined.
